The Brakes
The brake is purely a parking brake emulating what would be found on full size narrow gauge bogies. If you are planning to use the bogies for general passenger haulage then we would recommend you to fit a safety chain and ensure the locomotive's brakes are adequate for your needs.
The brake blocks are the highly reliable PNP brake shoes working on all four wheels. These PNP brake shoes are an injection moulded block of nylon which is filled with glass beads, this assists in the braking force. The brake shoes are easily available and have been shown to last for many years with heavy use.
Air or Vacuum brakes?
This type of bogie is not designed for commercial passenger carriage. e. If you're looking for a boogie as part of a large train with failsafe braking then consider using our Edmondson 7 1/4" Gauge Commercial Bogie.
Monitoring your product
The product is regarded as maintenance free apart from the occasional drop of oil on the axleboxes, however care must be taken to ensure the bogies are in good serviceable operation. The operator should check the product for signs of damage before use.
