Metric Box Spanners; sold individually or as a complete set
These are a very handy tool for any model engineer's toolbox and are ideal when trying to tighten nuts in tricky locations. The spanners all have a hole to allow a small metal rod to be inserted to give some extra leverage where required.
The body of the spanner is deliberately small meaning they can be used in confined locations commonly found on scale steam.
After scouring the internet for a suitable box spanner set for use on our own 7 ¼” K2 Steam loco we were dismayed at many of the box spanner sets available on the market which could often end up rounding the head on a soft brass nut. These spanners are far superior compared to others on the market as they're CNC turned to give a high quality tool which will perform well under regular use.
At MRW we pride ourselves on promoting UK manufacturing and these box spanners are manufactured by Polly Model Engineering who have been manufacturing steam locomotives at their works in Nottingham since 1999. The Polly range is quite extensive and well worth a browse if you're in the market for a 5inch steam locomotive.
