A simple flat wagon based on the Project Loco (2) chassis this is a great starting point for you to build your own wagon or riding truck.

Built here at MRW; an all steel bolt-together construction ensures this robust design will give years of reliable service. This is a brilliant entry level product into the world of 7 ¼ representing excellent value for money. 

 

The Flat Wagon was developed alongside Project Loco (2) to provide a matching driving or riding car. It uses the same chassis as the Loco and incorporates the same suspension components, CNC wheels and steel axles. It is the ideal partner for any small ground level loco and is available in 5” and 7¼” gauge.

 

Owners can add a seat or superstructure such as an open planked wagon, covered goods van or a tender with a seating arrangement to suit their own requirements.

 

 

The riding car is designed for use on ground level tracks only - For the 5” version please see a separate listing.

Self aligning roller bearings and independent springing ensure a smooth and stable ride. The Flat Wagon is supplied ready to run and finished in a powder coated black with red buffer beams. The Flat Wagon truck comes with an optional brake lever that can be used to apply the brakes - pressure is required to keep the brakes applied. If you require a parking brake then please select the “Locking parking brake upgrade” option.

Braking

There is an optional brake fitted to the side of the driving truck that can be applied by pulling the lever on the side  - pressure is required to keep the brakes applied. If you require a parking brake then please select the “Locking parking brake upgrade” option. 

 

The flat wagon can also be fitted with a Vacuum actuator for an additional cost. 

 

Note: if any form of Brake is selected as an option this will be actuating on both axles as standard.

 

Material: The all steel construction with laser cut slotted components. The frames are mild steel with EN8 wheels and axles.

This item is not available as a kit.

 

Coupling options

As standard the wagons are built with a multi height slot narrow gauge coupling. On special order the trucks can also be supplied with sprung buffers and a single slot coupling for chain coupling or bar coupling.

 

 

Details about the design and manufacture

The wheel sets are CNC machined in the UK then pressed and locktighted to the axle. The laser cut frames are powder coated whilst the mechanism is bare metal to be oiled regularly.

 

Intended use

This item is designed to be used by a “hobbyist” hence it does not have completely waterproof electronics and the components are designed for light irregular use as associated with clubs or home garden railways. The item has not been designed with the intention of daily use and the components have not been specified or designed to be used on a daily basis. If you intend to use this product with regularity, regular maintenance for all moving parts is key. If you are looking for a “commercial” product for daily use please do not hesitate to contact us.

 

 

Making a purchase
