7 ¼ Gauge Points Building Trackwork Gauge Set Bar Stock

Supplementary to Colin Edmondson’s guide ‘How To Build Your Own 7 1/4 Gauge Points From Bar Stock,’ these gauges allow the process of building your own points to be undertaken with much greater accuracy. The gauges are 6mm thick steel plate, so are very robust - enough so as to be used to build many sets of points. These gauges are designed to be used for 12mm or 10mm thick bar stock.

 

There are three sets of gauges, (18 total), a straight set, a curve set, and a tight curve set. With the information in Colin’s book, the gauges can be used to accurately lay out the bar stock for welding. The set comes with all three types, which are used for spacing rails and laying out check rails with ease.

 

Cut from mild steel the, gauges are designed for indoor use. It is a good idea to grease them if likely to be left outside for long periods, with further protection wise. Being laser cut, they are accurate to +-0.2mm. The gauges conform to 7 ¼” gauge society standards.
