The loco’s simple lightweight design makes it an excellent companion when undertaking portable track events. It is surplus to requirements and offered for sale with our standard 14 days return policy, provided the item is in the same condition that it was sold in. The "Project Loco 2" is a small 7¼” gauge sit behind locomotive, ideal for all miniature railway use.  Powered by a 1HP electric motor with two high discharge batteries.  Regenerative braking features in the handset and there is provision for a horn but this has not been fitted (as standard with these locos)

This loco is powerful enough to pull 8-10 passengers and keep performing all day on one battery charge. It will negotiate very tight radii down to 10ft.

For easy transport the batteries are removable and the loco then becomes a two person lift.

The Bonnet and cab roof are held on with velcro and this works well in practice.

Drive system:

• Motor located under bonnet with chain drive to centre layshaft and from layshaft to both axles.

• Chain drive sprockets are taper lock for both axles and layshaft.

• Motor drive sprocket is located by M6 screw.

• 24volts. Main fuse 60 amp midi.

• All power wiring pre-cut and terminated.

Construction:

• Chassis: 3mm steel laser cut and cnc folded

• Buffer beams: Laser cut 6mm steel

• Wheels: CNC machined EN8 steel 143.3 mm dia.

• Back to back : 7¼” gauge 173mm

• Layshaft: 20mm steel runs in roller bearings

• Suspension: Outboard springs and self aligning ball bearings

Body:

• Laser cut 1.6mm folded steel panels with apertures for windows and louvers, additional parts for radiator frame and side panels. Stainless steel window frames, glazing and fasteners. Bolt together assembly.

Finish:

• Chassis, chassis side cover plates and cab roof are powder coated in satin Black, buffer beams in Red and body panels in green.
