Colin Edmondson designed, MRW manufactured. A brand new product from Colin Edmondson which has been developed in 2021/2022. This turntable is designed using proven principles seen in many of Colin’s other successful miniature railway products. Accommodating rolling stock of wheelbase up to approx 360mm comfortably (390mm max.), the turntable works excellently in conjunction with Colin’s Scamp, Imp and short wheelbase tipper wagons.
Primarily designed to be placed on a track section temporarily, the main base is flat bottomed, so you can add sleepers or a solid base if you wish to set the turntable into the ground. Dismounting joiners including ramps and Click & Play compatible joiners simply hook into place and have lugs to locate within the rails to hold everything in place. Just drop the deck on and it's ready to use. The rails on the deck are about 22mm above the running rails, so it's a gentle ramp. There are carrying handles to make it easy to move. There are also adaptors to suit 16mm alloy rail if you want to build it in permanently.
These turntables are based on historic turntables used for manual shunting on railways in years gone by. They are versatile and can be placed almost anywhere on a track, allowing locos and rolling stock to be turned in any direction to be moved onto another line, or even simply back in the direction they came. The turntables can also be used as a low cost alternative to a set of points where applicable, making them an excellent tool at the disposal of anyone with a desire to break up rolling stock, load locos and wagons as a one man operation, or simply have fun with their Scamp on a running day!
Built to order on a short turnaround, the turntable comes black as standard but can be painted in a variety of colours upon request. We used the turntable in partnership with the Portable Railway Club and support from Colin, and the ease of use and intelligent functionality is a testament to the system’s proven design.
Suitability
The turntables are suitable for locomotives and rolling stock with a maximum spacing of the outer wheelsets of 390mm (15.25"). The turntable is of highly robust design and provided it is supported effectively, it will happily take the weight of an item of rolling stock up to 120kg.

Monitoring your 4-Way Turntable
The product is regarded as maintenance free, however care must be taken to ensure the prongs do not become bent or misaligned from heavy handling and transportation. Failure to do so can result in gauge related problems and avoidable derailments. The operator should check the turntable for damage (especially the table locking tab) before use to ensure the product is safe to carry locos and rolling stock.
Transportation & storage of your 4-Way Turntable
When transporting your turntable, ensure care is taken to not stack heavy objects on the product. The body is robust however some features can suffer from bending if care is not taken when being stored or transported. The product should be stored in a dry environment as excessive moisture has the ability to cause corrosion to the rotating assemblies.
