460 Classic Bearing Oil

460 Classic Bearing Oil

£11.50Price
Sales Tax Included

We supply either 220 or 460 bearing oils. The lubrication properties are both very similar but the way they behave/flow is different. The 460 is more viscous at room temperature but when heated becomes free flowing. This makes it ideal for miniature steam applications especially ones where conventional Wick/felt pads are not employed to draw the oil into the bearings. This oil is applicable for miniature steam as its viscous nature means it will pass through the bearings slower than the 220, meaning greater time between oiling periods.

Sold as:

1L Bottle -  1kg

5L Bottle -  5kg

25L Drum - 25kg

25L Drum & Pump - 25kg

This oil is applicable for miniature steam as its viscous nature means it will pass through the bearings slower than the 220, meaning greater time between oiling periods. The viscous nature of this oil does however mean it does not perform well with some pump oil feeders especially in cold conditions. This oil is ideally suited for where an axle box has no wicks or felts used and may become hot with its proximity to the fire box; in this scenario the oil pots.

460 is ideally suited to bearings where heat is a factor and no wicks are present and should be the go-to oil for some miniature steam and full size steam applications especially if wicks and pads are not used.
