Up against some stiff competition MRW had been anonymously nominated by a member of the local community and Dan Mason was asked to give some background information relating to the business and its growth over the past 6 years.

Daniel Mason - Managing Director - said in a press release that:

This is a huge honour for the company and is the first award that we have ever received since I started the business in 2018. It's hard to believe that we have grown out of a single garage into what we are today.

The Small Business Award is recognition of the remarkable achievements of small business which employees less than 10 employees and has demonstrated excellence, innovation, and resilience in the face of challenges.

The Awards team were keen to highlight that our recent growth as a business taking on Phoenix Locomotives had been a significant part of why MRW had won the award. Also MRW has taken on two Apprentices in 2025 which is a first for the business and the awards team were keen to recognise that achievement.

The Award is sponsored by Nottingham Trent University; MRW are proud to say we have been collaborating with NTU for a number of years now. Having first taken on two Product Design interns in previous years then followed by a host of assistance and funding from NTU to promote growth in the economy and local area.

Ryan Burrows - Engineering Apprentice - Said in a press release:

Definitely a dead good event and fancy! Great to meet up with the whole MRW team and especially catch up with James Wright who is someone I don't often get time to spend time with. It was a fantastic time to spend with many other finalists who were attending the event.

Daniel Farrer - Accountant Apprentice - Said in a press release:

I enjoyed it a lot, it had a good atmosphere and the businesses were all supportive of one another, with a healthy dose of competition. It made me feel proud to work here at MRW and to be part of the team.
